Direct answer

What this tool does

PicActions reads visible text, detects the source language, translates it into English, and generates a new image with the English text placed into the original layout. It also returns a separate text translation you can copy. The image step is generative, so names, prices, codes, and safety-critical information should always be checked against the source.

How to use it

Upload, run one action, download

  1. 01

    Upload the photo

Choose a clear photo, screenshot, or scan in JPG, PNG, or WebP format. Straight, high-contrast text works best.

  2. 02

    Translate the visible text

AI detects the source language, translates to English, and rebuilds the image while preserving its visual hierarchy.

  3. 03

    Copy or download

Copy the extracted English text, inspect names and numbers, and download the translated image as a PNG.

Good fit

Works best for

  • Restaurant menus, storefront signs, posters, and travel photos
  • Product screenshots and interface captures in another language
  • Scanned flyers, notices, labels, and simple document pages
  • Social graphics where the translated layout matters as much as the text

Before you rely on the result

Know the limits

  • Handwriting, decorative fonts, glare, blur, and steep camera angles reduce text recognition quality.
  • Names, measurements, prices, dates, and legal or medical text require human verification.
  • Dense documents may be easier to translate as plain text than as a visually rebuilt image.
  • The first release translates to English only and does not preserve editable text layers.

Privacy, plainly

Your image is processed, not collected

Processing happens in the cloud. When you run an action, your prepared image and instruction are sent over HTTPS to our inference provider, fal.ai. PicActions does not write the source image, generated image, extracted text, or edit prompt to D1 or R2.

We retain operational metadata such as tool name, file size, dimensions, processing time, provider, estimated cost, success status, and download event. This lets us detect abuse and improve reliability without logging your content.

Common questions

Before you upload

What languages can PicActions detect?+

The underlying vision model can recognize many widely used languages and attempts source-language detection automatically. Results vary with image clarity and language coverage, so verify important text.

Can I copy the translated text?+

Yes. A successful result includes a separate English text panel when the model finds legible text, alongside the translated image.

Will the translated image keep the same layout?+

The model tries to preserve hierarchy, colors, and approximate placement. English text often has a different length, so exact line breaks and typography can change.

Can I use the result for legal, medical, or safety instructions?+

Do not rely on an AI image translation for high-stakes decisions. Use a qualified human translator and compare every critical detail with the source.

Are uploaded photos stored?+

PicActions does not save the photo, translated image, extracted text, or prompt. The prepared image is sent to fal.ai for processing, and only privacy-safe operational metadata is retained by PicActions.
